Centipede Bite, Cockroach to the Rescue! Dear Teacher Hu, I would like to share another folk remedy in the hope that more people can benefit from it. This is a treatment for centipede bites. Ten years ago, when I was 15, I was working in the fields with my father. He spotted a large centipede and wanted to catch it to make medicinal wine. Unfortunately, he got bitten by the centipede, and blood immediately started flowing. He was stunned, and after a while, the wound began to hurt intensely and gradually swelled up, becoming larger and larger. My father ran all over the village asking if anyone knew a good remedy. Some suggested using chicken droppings, others recommended chicken saliva, but none of these worked. Just when we were at our wit's end, an elderly man told my father about a folk remedy. He said to catch five or six cockroaches, mash them into a paste, and apply it to the wound. Sure enough, within half an hour, the pain subsided, and the swelling gradually went down. We were overjoyed! The old man mentioned that this remedy had cured several people in the village, and it was absolutely true. I hope farmers will keep this remedy handy. I also hope Teacher Hu can share this remedy publicly. Centipedes are one of the "five poisonous creatures," and if bitten, failing to take effective treatment in time could endanger one's life or even lead to amputation. I am deeply grateful to the elderly man who shared this remedy with my father, and I am also immensely thankful to Teacher Hu for providing such a wonderful platform to spread the magic of folk remedies. Teacher Hu, we will always support you! Contributor: Xie Jinlong
